Let's talk live and active cultures. Specifically, Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus. These are living organisms which convert pasteurized milk to yogurt during fermentation. According to our friends at the Natural Yogurt Association (NYA), some yogurt products are heat-treated after fermentation, which kills most of the beneficial active cultures found in yogurt. To help you identify yogurt products that contain live and active cultures, look for the NYA's Live & Active Cultures seal.

FUN FACT: The Live & Active Cultures seal means you've got a frozen yogurt product that contains at least 10 MILLION cultures per gram at the time of manufacture. (Pssst!
